2009 Tippet's Dam Pinot Noir

This single vineyard wine from Tippet's Dam vineyard has complex floral and fruit aromas leading to a densely layered mid palate full of bramble fruits and wild herbs. Firm tannins and an elegant backbone of acid following through into a very long finish of chocolate and cherries. Structured for 4 - 8 years cellaring, this wine is drinking very well and is most expressive with food.

Winemaker's Notes:

Picked at 25 Brix and fermented with 20% whole bunches included. Cold soaked for a week, barrel fermented for a week (innoculated), post-soak for another week. Pressed to barrel (French) with 30% new, MFL in the spring. 9 months later racked to blend and returned to neutral oak for a further 6 months. Bottled sans fining or filtering.

Soils: Ardguar / Hawksburn / Felton Soils and variants. Mainly light brown sandy loam over packed gravels of alluvial schist with clay loams over gravel and packed schist alluvial on the south sector.
